What can you do before we arrive?
Make sure the source of the water is stopped if possible.
Clear the affected rooms of as much contents as possible. It is a good idea to get furniture off the wet carpet as quickly as possible and move these items to a dry part of the house. Water damaged wooden furniture may have varnish at the bottom so cover the legs with a bit of kitchen foil to avoid staining other floors. Furniture with metal legs may leave rust stains – again cover the legs with foil.
Get affected rugs out the rooms and onto tiled areas of your home. Colour migration from rugs quite often stain carpets permanently.
